Message from the new Green Candidate

Greetings my fellow neighbours and Green supporters. For the past several elections you have given Lori Gadzala unprecedented support and made Nepean-Carleton a strong riding for the Green Party. I promise to work hard and live up the calibre you have come to expect from Lori and the Green Party of Canada.

The biggest help you can give before the next election is telling us of community issues and events we can attend. The more people who get to know me, the more who realize the Green political movement is about making responsible decisions and making government work for the citizens.

So, let’s get out into the community and show everyone the good neighbours we are and encourage all those sitting on the green fence to join us.

Once again, I thank you for your support. Let's all keep working for clean air, clean water, and clean politics.

Are you tired of eating sweet peppers that aren’t sweet, wilted lettuce and apples that just don’t taste like they did when you were a kid?  That’s because when you sit down to eat, most of the food has traveled at least 1,500 miles to your table.

Gadzala Wins GPC Nomination for Nepean-Carleton

April 17, 2007
Local Green Party of Canada selects its candidate for the next federal election

Ottawa, Canada – April 16, 2007 – Lori Gadzala, of Manotick defeated Joseph Gauthier, of Vernon at the Green Party nomination for Nepean-Carleton.

Die-hard GPC members turned out last Sunday evening in spite of Game 3 of the playoffs between the Ottawa Senators and the Pittsburg Penguins.

Gordon Kubanek, President of the Green Party Electoral District Association reminded participants that in Nepean Carleton, support for the Green Party continues to grow. During the January 2006 election Nepean Carleton was among the top 20 Green ridings in Canada.

Bruce Calder, President of Ageus Solutions, also spoke at the meeting pointing out that the increase in interest in the Green Party signifies more than just public concern about the environment, the Green Party is a solid choice for Canadians who are interested in changing government.

Gadzala, 40, was delighted to receive the nomination and pledged to continue her work to increase party support. In the January 2006 election Gadzala earned over 4000 votes, a 50% increase over 2004 results.

Elizabeth May in Nepean-Carleton

Fresh from a Green Party Federal Council retreat on the weekend, our newly-elected Leader Elizabeth May found time in her busy schedule to visit our riding last night and meet many Green Party supporters. She graciously mingled and answered questions on the by-election she is running in in London North Centre. She also attacked the Government’s “Clean Air Act”, something she did very capably since she worked on the original policy behind the Canadian Environmental Protection Act under the Mulroney government in the late ’80’s. Wine and Cheese Fundraiser - Oct 30, 2006

With the current minority government, we have been told to expect another federal election as early as next spring. Fortunately, it’s time for the annual Nepean-Carleton Green Party Wine and Cheese Fundraiser!

A very special guest, Elizabeth May, Leader, Green Party of Canada, will be on hand to respond to the Conservative Government’s Green Plan and other federal issues.

This annual fundraiser is a major contributor to our local election campaign. Last year, this event raised enough money to print over 15,000 brochures for the 2006 election. The polls in Nepean-Carleton that received a single Green piece of literature voted Green 30% more often than polls that did not receive Green literature.

Date: Monday, October 30, 2006

Time: 7:15-9:30 pm – Remarks by Elizabeth May at 7:45

Place: 5602 South River Drive, Manotick

RSVP: Your Hosts, Lori Gadzala and Douglas Frosst, 688-7253
