Local Green Party of Canada selects its candidate for the next federal election

Ottawa, Canada – April 16, 2007 – Lori Gadzala, of Manotick defeated Joseph Gauthier, of Vernon at the Green Party nomination for Nepean-Carleton.

Die-hard GPC members turned out last Sunday evening in spite of Game 3 of the playoffs between the Ottawa Senators and the Pittsburg Penguins.

Gordon Kubanek, President of the Green Party Electoral District Association reminded participants that in Nepean Carleton, support for the Green Party continues to grow. During the January 2006 election Nepean Carleton was among the top 20 Green ridings in Canada.

Bruce Calder, President of Ageus Solutions, also spoke at the meeting pointing out that the increase in interest in the Green Party signifies more than just public concern about the environment, the Green Party is a solid choice for Canadians who are interested in changing government.

Gadzala, 40, was delighted to receive the nomination and pledged to continue her work to increase party support. In the January 2006 election Gadzala earned over 4000 votes, a 50% increase over 2004 results.
